And you learn how to listen! Listening is one of the most important skills in making a gift solicitation. If you listen carefully, you understand what your donor is most interested in. When you talk, you learn nothing about the prospect. In this session you learn and practice how to “listen the gift.”
You receive resource materials and tools, unique to the Institute, to help you assess your work. You measure your listening skills, the organizations stewardship program, and how you use your time.
You learn the language of philanthropy and the entire development process. You gain a better understanding of your role in the overall process.
This is a practical, nuts and bolts program. It prepares you with a platform to take you to the next highest level for success.
It's for Everyone
Whether you are part of a small organization or in an office with a large staff, you plan and develop a useful, tactical plan for your specific responsibilities.
Making the Case
One of the essential tools for your organization is an effective and compelling statement of your case. In this session you develop the case for support for your organization. You learn how to apply drama and emotional appeal— all with a pressing sense of urgency.
The Importance of Stewardship
Research shows it requires 41/2 times the effort, staff, and dollars to acquire a new donor as it does to keep one. You learn the importance of good stewardship to your organization and how to practice it. We provide a unique questionnaire to grade your organization and set you on the right path.
Aim High!
No matter what your job in the organization, learning how to successfully solicit a gift is important— at the right level and at the greatest joy to your donor. You practice the kind of strategic questions you need to ask and how to ask them. This is essential in winning the gift.
