Terry Heilman Sylvester

Terry Heilman Sylvester has the University of Richmond in her DNA.  Her father was President of the University for fifteen years.  He was regarded as one of the most outstanding college Presidents in the nation.  He retired and was named Chancellor, a post he still holds.

Terry is a graduate of the University’s Robins School of Business.  Her four daughters are graduates and her husband David is a 1977 graduate.

The University has been her life.  She has done it all.  She served on the University’s Board of Trustees for two terms.  Then, the University decided there would be no one better at Major Gift Fundraising, she is now the Director of Parent Giving.

Prior to her involvement at the University, Terry spent her career as a development and fundraising consultant to a number of non-profit organizations, including youth and children’s ministries domestically and internationally.

She is the former Executive Director of the Down Syndrome Connection, an organization in the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with Down Syndrome.

In 2010 the University recognized the remarkable contribution Terry Heilman Sylvester has made over the years and awarded her with the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service.
